Physical SIM or eSIM — what is the difference?

A physical SIM is a plastic card you insert into the tray; an eSIM is a digital profile you install on the phone with a QR code. Both run on the same packages and the same networks abroad. The practical difference for a traveller: an eSIM arrives by email in minutes, needs no card swap, and lets your Mongolian number stay in the phone.

Which is better for travel?

For most travellers, an eSIM: order online, install before departure and keep the Mongolian SIM in place for calls and messages. Choose a physical SIM if the phone has no eSIM support or you prefer a card in hand.

Can I use both at the same time?

On a dual-SIM phone, yes: the Mongolian line stays active for calls and SMS while the eSIM carries the data. Set the eSIM as the line used for Mobile Data.

Can I move an eSIM to a new phone?

An eSIM belongs to the device it was installed on, so moving it means reissuing the profile. Contact support with your order number and the new phone's EID and we will help you through it.
